Mahta Movasat graduated in 2022 with a Ph.D. in the Department of Structural Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. Her main research interest centers on the mudflow initiation mechanism in areas that have experienced wildfires. She is also interested in visiting and collecting soil from recently burned areas and characterizing it.
