Project goals are to investigate inelastic fracture propagation in rock under coupled processes, to relate acoustic emission signals to synthetic rock fracture propagation and to better understand geothermal site behavior. This project has been so far funded and supported by University of California San Diego, Itasca Consulting Group, DynaFrax, a spin-off company of Helmholtz Centre Potsdam GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences, Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy KEM-24 project on Groeningen gas site and Yade open source software.
